2019 KEY DATES AHEAD

 

AUGUST

05th August

University Applications Open: ATAR students will receive information about applying to Universities via TISC’s online website. Make sure you do not lose this document. The closing date for applications without incurring a late fee (approx. $165) is 30th September.

University Scholarships

These scholarships are intended to support students from all walks of life by helping them succeed in their academic journey whilst undertaking studies at University. The onus is on the student to complete all work required for the application prior to submitting to the Principal for signing and their declaration. To access Scholarships – google search the university you wish to attend and enter their scholarship tab for further information. Please some information supplied below regarding some of our Universities and the scholarships on offer.

 

University of Western Australia (UWA) Undergraduate Scholarships – applications are now open for Semester 1, 2020 and close Sunday 03rd November 2019 –

Edith Cowan University (ECU) Scholarships – enter the ECU site and they have a `find a scholarship’ search engine for scholarships they have on offer.

 

SEPTEMBER

 

TAFE Applications 2020: usually goes `live’ for online applications mid-September and is available usually until the beginning of December. Enrolments occurs in January.

 

02nd-27th September (Weeks 7-10 Term 3)

OLNA Round 2 – individual days for testing to be confirmed.

 

12th September

ATAR Examinations: the College is able to download our ATAR students’ personalised written examination timetables on this date. These will be laminated and distributed to students closer to their external ATAR Examination dates. These are only printed once and students will need – once they have been given their timetable – to store this timetable in a safe place and must be taken to every examination. Students and parents can access the timetable for the 2019 written and practical examinations at the following link:

19th September (Thursday Week 9 Term 3)

Students enrolled in Certificate II Hospitality & Certificate II Tourism must have had all their work marked and assessed for delivery to RTO by Monday 23rd September 2019.

 

23rd September (Monday Week 10 Term 3)

Clearance forms need to be signed off and returned to Student Services. All borrowed items: books, calculators, etc. need to be returned and fees must be paid.

Note: exception for ATAR students who must return borrowed items following External Examinations but before the end of November.

 

Graduation Tickets and payments must be finalised. Information about Graduation will have been emailed home prior to this date.

 

 27th September (last Friday Week 10 Term 3)

All VET Certificate Qualifications units of competency MUST BE COMPLETED AND SIGNED OFF AS COMPETENT BY TEACHER and General/Foundation course work to be submitted for final assessment – last day for submission of work to be assessed.

All ATAR course assessed work to be completed by Friday Week 10, Term 3; the exception being the ATAR Mock Examinations.

 

29th September – 04th October (these exams will include weekends and public holidays)

Physical Education Practical Exams: these exams are scheduled by the students chosen sport. Personalised Practical Examination information for students will be received by the College 12 September 2019.

 

29th September – 05th October (these exams will include weekends and public holidays)

Drama Practical Exams: Personalised Practical Examination information for students will be received by the College 12 September 2019.

 

OCTOBER

 

7th to 11th October (Week 2 Term 3 holidays)

ATAR Mock examinations will be scheduled on site at Halls Head College for the second week of the holidays. These will mirror as closely as possible what the students can expect for their ATAR External Examinations with outside invigilators and strict exam protocols enforced. Students will receive their personalised timetables for the Mock Examinations during Week 9, Term 3; these must be taken to each of their Examinations.

 

12th, 13th, 19, 20th October (NOTE: these exams will be conducted during the weekend)

EALD Practical Exams: information regarding the dates for students sitting their EALD Practical Examination will be received 12 September 2019.

 

21st October

Year 12 Dress-up Day. First Graduation rehearsal – to be held at Halls Head College.

 

22nd October (last day for all Year 12 students)

Year 12 Leavers Breakfast: students are to arrive at school in full uniform for a 7:30 start.

Farewell Assembly commencing in the Gym at 9am. Parents are welcome to attend and we request that they arrive at around 8:30.

Graduation Rehearsal (immediately following the Farewell Assembly)

Once the assembly has concluded, students to assembly on the lawn in front of the Library and then will leave the College via bus for the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. ALL students should be present for this and may not make their own way there. They will be bussed back to the College in time for afternoon buses. Students should make their way home then return that evening for the Graduation Ceremony.

Graduation Ceremony: students arrive from 5:30pm but no later than 6 pm. Attire for this event is `semi-formal dress code’ with clothing being in black and white only (no denim, thongs, low cut dresses or blouses, mini-skirts or mini-dresses).

Parents, relatives and friends need to arrive with their tickets and should be seated for the commencement of the ceremony at 7pm.

 

30th October

ATAR External Written Examinations commence will conclude 19th November. The timetables are available online in the SCSA website:

NOVEMBER

Last day for student appeals against school assessments in courses studied in Year 12

 

19th November

ATAR exams conclude

 

21st November

Last date for receipt by the Authority of sickness/misadventure application forms.

 

DECEMBER

 

16th December

Year 12 student’s results available online via the Authority’s student portal
